Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Zigpon is an educational platform designed to help drivers understand the process of contesting traffic violations on their own. We are not a law firm, do not provide legal advice, and do not form an attorney–client relationship.

Zigpon is intended for users in the United States, and we operate it from the United States. Some of the providers we rely on (such as Google) may process data in other countries under their own policies.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the information described below. You can browse the guides, pick your state and violation, and use the prep chat without creating an account.

Account Data

• Email address (required for login)
• Password (only when you sign up manually; handled by Firebase Authentication and never stored by Zigpon in readable form)
• Name (provided during signup or from your Google profile)

For Google Sign-In users, authentication is handled by Firebase and we do not receive or store your Google password.

Attorney Referral Requests

If you choose to request an attorney referral, we collect what you enter on that form:

• Email address and/or phone number (at least one is required so an attorney can contact you)
• Your state and violation type, so the request can be routed appropriately

You do not need an account to submit a referral request. See Section 4 for how this information is shared.

Cookies and Browser Storage

• Session cookie (__session) — keeps you logged in. It is HTTP-only, sent over HTTPS, and expires after 2 days.
• Browser session storage — your selected state and violation, and the page you were heading to before logging in, so the site can function. This stays in your browser and is cleared when you close the tab.
• Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, described below.

Analytics and Usage Data

• We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser. Google may set its own cookies and receives your IP address. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• We record when the “Talk to a real traffic lawyer” button is clicked, along with the selected state and violation. This is a count of button presses — it does not include your name or contact details.

Third-Party Services Loaded on Our Pages

Some parts of our pages are served by Google. Because your browser requests these files directly, Google receives your IP address and basic request information whenever you visit, even if you do not have an account:

• Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) — typefaces
• Firebase Authentication SDK (gstatic.com) — login functionality
• Google Analytics (googletagmanager.com) — as described above

Server and Hosting Logs

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and reliability purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Creating and securing your account, and keeping you logged in
• Showing guidance relevant to the state and violation you select
• Passing your request to a licensed attorney, if — and only if — you submit the referral form
• Responding to messages you send us by email
• Measuring how the site is used so we can improve it
• Protecting the site against abuse (for example, rate-limiting automated requests)

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or advertising profiles. We do use analytics to measure how the site is used, as described in Section 2.

4. Sharing of Information

Zigpon does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only in these cases:

• Licensed attorneys — only if you ask us to. When you submit the attorney referral form, you consent to us sharing the contact details and case information you provided (email and/or phone, state, violation type) with a licensed attorney for the purpose of that referral. We do not share your information with any attorney unless you submit that form.
• Firebase Authentication (Google) — secure login
• Google Analytics — usage measurement described in Section 2
• Our hosting provider — to operate the website
• Where required by law — for example, in response to a valid legal request, or to protect our rights or the safety of others

5. How Long We Keep Information

• Account data — kept while your account is active, and deleted when you ask us to delete it.
• Attorney referral requests — kept for as long as needed to complete the referral and to keep basic records of requests we have handled. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.
• Analytics data — retained by Google according to the retention period configured for our Google Analytics property.

6. Data Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including Firebase Authentication for account credentials, HTTPS, and session cookies that are HTTP-only (not readable by scripts in your browser) and time-limited.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send us sensitive details you do not want stored — the referral form only needs enough for an attorney to contact you.

7. Analytics Choices

You can opt out of Google Analytics measurement across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use Zigpon.

8. Your Privacy Rights

You can ask us to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct information that is inaccurate
• Delete your account data and any referral request you submitted

To make a request, email [email protected] from the address associated with your account or referral request, so we can verify it is you. We will respond within a reasonable time. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

California Residents

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the rights described above, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information.

We do not sell your personal information. We share your contact details with a licensed attorney only when you submit the attorney referral form and consent to that sharing — and you can decline simply by not submitting the form. To exercise any California privacy right, email [email protected].

9. Children's Privacy

Zigpon is intended for licensed drivers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Changes take effect once posted, and your continued use of Zigpon signifies acceptance of the updated policy.
